Asus ZenFone Max M2 With Stock Android, 4000mAh Battery Launched in India, Prices Start at Rs 9,999

Alongside the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2, Asus also launched the successor to the ZenFone Max M1, aptly named as ZenFone Max M2. The ZenFone Max M2 is the second smartphone to launch in India with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset. The phone comes in two variants- 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. It runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box like the Max Pro M2, and it features a decent 4000mAh battery. Like its predecessor, the Max M2 is also constructed out of plastic entirely and there's a notch on top of the display this time around. The phone also features dual rear cameras. It takes on the recently launched Honor 8C smartphone which went on for sale yesterday via Amazon India.

Asus ZenFone Max M2: Specifications and Features

The ZenFone Max M2 also sports a 6.26-inch display on the front, same as the ZenFone Max Pro M2. But the resolution here is HD+ (1520x720 pixels). It's a notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 430 nits brightness levels. The display has a 2.5D curved glass on top, and the phone measures 7.7mm in thickness and weighs 160 grams. As for the internal hardware, we have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset running the show, clubbed with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. There's a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Asus has added two cameras on the rear side- a 13MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture, 1.12um, and a 5MP depth sensor. The phone is capable of shooting 4K videos. On the front, there's an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12um and LED flash. Like the ZenFone Max Pro M2, this phone also ships with stock Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It's backed by a 4000mAh battery.

Connectivity options on the handset include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS and Micro USB port. This phone comes in two colour options- Blue and Black. As for the sensors, we get Accelerometer, E-Compass, Proximity sensor, Ambient Light Sensor and Gyroscope. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the back and the phone even offers software-based Face Unlock functionality.

Asus ZenFone Max M2: Pricing and Availability

The Asus ZenFone Max M2 will also be exclusive to Flipkart in India. It comes in two colour options- Blue and Black. The base variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 9,999, while the 4GB+64GB option costs Rs 11,999. Asus also stated that it's not discontinuing the ZenFone Max Pro M1 in India.

Asus ZenFone Max M2: Competitors in India

The primary competitor to the ZenFone Max M2 in India is the Honor 8C which also sports the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, dual rear cameras, 4000mAh battery and an HD+ display. The letdown for the Honor 8C will be the EMUI software, while the Max M2 scores on the software front because it runs a vanilla version of Android. Another competitor to the Max M2 is the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro which has a Full HD+ display, older Snapdragon 625 SoC, superior dual rear cameras, metal body and a 4000mAh battery.
