Asus 6Z With Flip Camera, Snapdragon 855 SoC Launched at a Starting Price of Rs 31,999

Taiwanese manufacturer Asus today debuted its latest flagship smartphone, the Asus 6Z. The phone which was launched as the Asus Zenfone 6 for its global market, has been renamed as the Asus 6Z. Asus has obviously been betting a lot on this smartphone and finally the device is out in its full glory. As compared to its previoys flagship phone, the Asus Zenfone 5Z, the Asus 6Z comes with a lot of improvements and takes the series forward. Here are all the details, specifications and pricing of the Asus 6Z.




Display

Expanding upon the design and display of the smartphone, Asus revealed that the Asus 6Z comes with a full-screen display with no notch. The display measures 6.4-inches with 92% screen to body ratio. The display also boasts of 600nits brightness. For protection, the Asus 6Z comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6, which Asus claims to be the first in the industry lending the phone 2x drop protection as compared to previous generation glasses. Performance

When it comes to performance, the Asus 6Z packs the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with the 7nm architecture process. The special thing about the Snapdragon 855 is a single Prime Core, which is the Kryo 485 clocking a speed of 2.84Ghz, in addition to the 3 Big Little cores and the four other cores. This processor also comes with 4th generation Qualcomm AI engine with 3x improved performance. Combined with all this is the Adreno 640 GPU for graphics which provides 20% faster graphics performance.

Inside the box, the device comes with a phone cover, a Hi-Res Headset and an 18W Quick Charger. It is also worth noting that the 6Z comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

User Interface

The Asus 6Z also comes with a lot of optimisations including the OptiFlex technology which is an intelligent memory management optimisation powered by machine learning which predicts the apps to be kept in memory for faster launches. One of the major changes which Asus has done with the 6Z is the stock Android experience hence simplifying the UI.

Asus has also added a Smart Key button on the side edge of the device which will have the default function of summoning the Google Assistant, showing personal updates and the walkie-talkie mode for Google Assistant. Asus is also shipping features like call recording, twin apps, outdoor mode, mobile manager, FM Radio and Applock via Face and Fingerprint. On the software front, Asus has debuted the phone with Android 9 Pie and has promised the Android Q and Android R updates for the 6Z.

Camera

On the Asus 6Z, the brand has shipped a flip camera, which is a first of its kind debut in any smartphone. The sensors present on the flip cameras include the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor and a secondary camera of 13MP ultra-wide angle sensor. The flip camera makes it possible for the user to use the 48MP camera to click both selfies and other shots. The phone also uses a 1.6-micron pixel along with the Quad Bayer technology. The camera also facilitates laser autofocus and dual-LED flash. The phone also comes with Cam2 api which means that users will be able to install the Google Camera app on the phone.

The camera also comes with free angle control with the option to tilting the camera via a soft key or the volume slider. Asus has also announced that the soft key for tilting the camera will be available in all camera apps like Instagram. The flip camera also allows the Asus 6Z to shoot auto-panorama images and vertical panorama as well. As for the video, the flip camera will be able to motion track and tilt the camera to track the subject even in 4K 60fps setting along with EIS. The selfies on the Asus 6Z will also be of very high quality, as the 6Z will boast of a 98 DxOMark score for selfies which is the highest for any phone courtesy of the 48MP which will double down as the selfie camera as well.

Battery

Another major highlight of the Asus 6Z is a massive 5000mAh battery which comes with Quickcharge 4.0. Asus has also announced that the battery life of the Asus 6Z is 1.5x of its competitors and comes with special technology which makes it less bulky, extends the battery life and facilitates fast charging.

Asus 6Z Variants and Pricing

The Asus 6Z will be available in three variants including 6GB/64GB variant, 6GB/128GB variant, and an 8GB/256GB variant. As usual, the Asus 6Z will be available on Flipkart with a complete mobile protection package with doorstep pickup for servicing, guaranteed replace or repair and more. The mobile protection package with the Asus 6Z will be available for Rs 99 instead of a much higher price tag. The Asus 6Z 6GB RAM and 64GB RAM variant will be available for Rs 31,999, the 6GB RAM and 128GB variant will be available for Rs 34,999, and lastly, the 8GB RAM and 256GB variant will be available for Rs 39,999. The sale for the Asus 6Z will begin on June 26 on Flipkart.
