Asianet, which is one of the popular Cable TV and broadband service providers in Kerala, has introduced a new offer as part of which it's providing free Set-Top Box and 100 channels at just Rs 150 per month. The offer is valid for till December 31, 2019, and only new customers are eligible to get the benefits. Firstly, Asianet will be offering its Set-Top Box to the customers by taking Rs 999 as deposit charges. That said, the operator will take away the STB after three years and the entire deposit amount will be refunded. Also, the channel pack comes with 100 channels- 83 FTA channels and 17 paid channels, and the charges of the pack per month will be Rs 150 (excluding 18% GST). However, Asianet confirmed that the Cable TV channel pack price would be Rs 150 only until December 31, 2019, post which customers will have to pay the entire charges.

Ever since JioFiber announced its broadband plans, Asianet has been aggressively revising its plans and also continually coming out with new offers to lure subscribers. Asianet's new offer in Kerala allows subscribers to get Set-Top Box at just Rs 999 which is also refundable. So from new users in Kerala, Asianet will be collection Rs 999 deposit amount for the Set-Top Box; After three years from the date of subscription, if the customer returns the Set-Top Box in working condition, then the entire Rs 999 deposit amount will be refunded. If the customer chooses to keep the STB, then the Rs 999 deposit amount will not be refunded by Asianet.
Additionally, Asianet will also provide a Cable TV channel pack with 100 channels at just Rs 150 till December 31, 2019. This Cable TV pack for new Asianet customers will have 83 FTA channels and 17 pay channels. The pay channels are Asianet, Surya, Zee Keralam, Flowers, Asianet Movies, Asianet Plus, Surya Movies, Surya Music, Surya Comedy, Kochu TV, NGC, NGC Wild, Star Sports 1, Star Sports 2, Star Sports First, Star Sports 3 and News 18 Malayalam. As mentioned, the price of the pack is Rs 150 and there will be an additional 18% added to the final amount.
The Rs 150 charges are till December 31, 2019, after which normal rates for all the channels will be applicable. In addition, if a customer opts for other A-la-Carte channels, then the price of the pack will be increased as well.
Asianet Smart Magic Set-Top Box Also Available at an Introductory Price
In other news, Asianet is also offering its Android TV-based Smart Magic Set-Top Box at an introductory price of Rs 3,999 in select cities right now. Earlier this year, Asianet launched the Smart Magic Android TV box at a price of Rs 5,999 to the users. This box from Asianet combines Cable TV and OTT content into one as the Android TV platform allows users to download more than 5000 apps and games for free.
The Smart Magic Box from Asianet runs on Android TV 8.0 platform and comes preloaded with apps like YouTube, Hotstar, ZEE5 and so on. With this Set-Top Box, Asianet is looking to counter JioFiber which is also shipping free 4K STB with every broadband plan at no extra cost. However, the price of the Asianet Smart Magic Box is on the higher side compared to the likes Airtel Xstream Box and Dish SMRT Hub.
