These new smartphones from Apple come in two different screen sizes, the iPhone 6s with a 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 6s Plus comes with a 5.5-inch display. The former has a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels and a pixel density of 326 ppi, while the latter has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a pixel density of 401 ppi. These displays are covered by "Ion-Strengthened" glasses, and feature a brand new "3D Touch" touchscreen mechanism. As opposed to displays in other smartphones as well as previous iPhones, these new touchscreen technology can also measure the force with which the display is being touched. Due to this technology, new quick actions can be performed such as quickly take a selfie or view an appointment. Every developer can enable quick actions when Force Touch is being used, such as sending out a quick tweet or a message.

These iOS 9 running pieces of technology come with Always On Siri personal digital assistant and Apple Pay NFC-based payments system. Coming to the interiors, these iPhones are equipped with an Apple A9 chipset that is claimed to offer 70 percent better CPU performance and 90 percent beefier GPU. Apple hasn't revealed details about the RAM in these devices, but it is being reported that these new iPhones sport 2GB RAM, double of what was bundled with previous generation iPhones. These smartphones will come in three internal storage variants; 16GB, 64GB, and 128 GB. Yes, 16GB is still the starting variant (are you kidding me, Apple!?), even though those higher resolution cameras will produce images and videos with larger file sizes.
In the imaging department, the primary camera now has a resolution of 12 megapixels, while the front-facing camera now uses a BIS sensor with a resolution of 5 megapixels. Both the cameras have ƒ/2.2 aperture, but the primary camera comes with OIS, while the secondary camera lacks it. The rear-facing camera can even record 4K videos in 30FPS, 1080p videos in 120FPS, and 720p videos in 240 fps. The front-facing camera is accompanied with something called 'Retina Flash', which is nothing but the screen acting like a strobe flash that can brighten upto 2x its usual brightness setting. So, you can now take better selfies even in low-light conditions. Also, panorama images will now have a higher 63-megapixel resolution, thanks to the new processor and the camera sensor.
In terms of connectivity, these iPhones have Nano-SIM card slots, and come with 4G LTE-A with a maximum download speeds of upto 600Mb/s. The home button now has the second-generation TouchID fingerprint sensor beneath it for faster fingerprint recognition. There's dual-band Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n with MIMO for faster data access over the network, and Bluetooth 4.2 + LE. The iPhone 6s comes with an 1,715 mAh battery, while the iPhone 6s Plus comes with a larger 2,915 mah battery. There's still no wireless or fast charging, so they'll take twice as much time to charge fully as newer competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Sony Xperia Z5. Apple also announced new options for leather and silicon cases as well as colour-matched metallic docks for the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.
These new iPhones will be up for pre-orders from September 12 in the US, and will go on sale on the 25th of September. However, India is not in the list of 12 countries where the new iPhones will be available for purchase from September 25. Apple will most probably launch its new smartphones in India by next month, and the price tags are believed to stay similar to that of the launch prices of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Apple is also going to offer EMI-based purchases and a replacement program where current iPhone owners can replace their existing iPhones with the new ones by paying an additional amount.
