Google’s latest version of the Android operating system is finally here and the tech giant has also put out a schedule for the launch of updates for various smartphones. The Android 9 Pie is going to come with many new features and a revamped UI/UX. After the completion of the beta testing phase, now Google has launched the Android 9 Pie in its entirety for phones like OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus and Essential PH-1. Although some features will be held back until November, users of these phones will be able to experience much of the latest Android version. Also, the Google Pixel devices have already received the Android 9 Pie update.
Android 9 Pie Update for Google Pixel Devices and Essential PH-1
The Pixel line-up by Google which includes phones like Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2XL has already received the Android 9 Pie. The update package for Pixel devices comes in a 1173.0 MB package. However, other Google devices like Nexus haven’t received the Android 9 Pie update. The Essential PH-1 is another phone which received the Android Pie update on the same day of the launch.
Android 9 Pie Update for OnePlus Devices
The Chinese manufacturer OnePlus took to Twitter to announce the launch of Android 9 Pie OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 6. The company also informed that other OnePlus devices like OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T would also get the Android 9 Pie. OnePlus users will be able to download the latest OxygenOS beta build from the website and they can install it on their OnePlus devices by flashing the ROM.
Android 9 Pie Update for Nokia, Motorola and HTC Devices
Given that most Nokia devices come with Android One certification, then a large number of Nokia devices will be getting the Android 9 Pie update. Nokia has announced that devices including Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 will get the Android 9 Pie Developer Preview 5 (Beta 4). Nokia 1 will also be getting the Android 9 Pie update in the coming days. The Nokia 7 Plus is confirmed to receive the update in the first half kf September.
In Motorola’s line-up, the eligible phones include Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play, Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z2 Force, Moto G6, Moto X4, Moto G6 Play, and the Moto G6 Plus. As per the company’s announcement, these Motorola phones are expected to get the latest Android update in the fall.
HTC has also listed its eligible devices for the Android 9 Pie update. Although the manufacturer hasn’t yet specified a date for the same. The list of HTC devices eligible for the update includes HTC U12+, HTC U11+, HTC U11, and the HTC U11 Life (Android One).
Android 9 Pie Update for Sony, Xiaomi and Huawei Devices
Sony has also shortlisted its device which will be getting the Android 9 update. The list of these devices includes Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, and the Xperia XZ Premium.
The popular Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has also listed its Mi MIX 2S for the Android 9 Pie update and the phone has been confirmed to receive the package. Although the version on the MIX 2S has been said to be the beta-testing one the stable build is soon expected to follow. Xiaomi hasn’t shared a prospective schedule for the update rollout. Also, Huawei has not yet put out a list of devices along with a specified date for Android 9 Pie update rollout. However, a MyBroadband report suggests that Huawei P20 Pro, P20 and P20 Lite could receive the update by the end of this month.
It is also worth noting that Google has talked about the Go Edition of Android 9 Pie, which will be launched “later this fall”, for budget phones with lower end specifications.
