Airtel and Vodafone Idea Finally Manages to Beat Jio With Latest Prepaid Plans

Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel all offer prepaid plans which come with 56 days validity, but there are some differences between them

  • Reliance Jio has capped offnet calling to 2,000 minutes in its 56 days validity plans
  • Vodafone Idea and Airtel are offering truly unlimited prepaid calling
  • The plans cost Rs 399 and Rs 449 respectively

The prepaid telecom industry in India right now is going through twist and turns every other day. There is no keeping a finger on the nerve of the industry right now because of the ups and downs and the radical changes that the telecom operators are making at such high frequency. The series of events started with the tariff hike which was brought forth by the private telecom operators and then followed by the likes of other telcos like Reliance Jio. The only telecom operator left to introduce a tariff hike on its prepaid plans is the state-led telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). However, even with the private telecom operators hiking their prices on the prepaid plans, there is plenty for the subscribers to get used to. In the most recent move from the private telcos is the introduction of the new prepaid plans with 56 days validity. The telecom operators like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have all introduced two new prepaid plans in their portfolio, one around the Rs 400 price range and the other around the Rs 450 price range. However, the incumbents may have finally managed to beat Reliance Jio with the launch of these new prepaid plans. Here is how.

Reliance Jio Prepaid Plans With 56 Days Validity

Firstly, we will take a look at what the Reliance Jio prepaid plans are offering with their 56 days validity offerings. The first plan in this comparison is the Rs 399 prepaid plan which offers 1.5GB daily data to the subscribers for 56 days straight, thus totalling to 84 days of total data benefit. Along with this, the subscribers also get the benefit of 100 SMS per day and Jio to Jio free calling. In the case of off-net calls or calls to other networks, the telecom operators ship 2,000 minutes.

Similarly, there is also the Rs 444 prepaid plan from the telecom operator, which is offering 2GB data per day to the subscribers with 56 days validity thus totalling to 112GB of validity. Along with this, the subscribers get the 100 SMS per day benefit, and the calling benefit to other operators is again capped at 2,000 minutes with unlimited Jio to Jio calling.

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Prepaid Plans With 56 Days Validity

In comparison to this, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, both are shipping Rs 399 prepaid plan, which also offers 1.5GB data per day to its subscribers. Along with this, the other benefits like 100 SMS per day also remains with the customers as well. However, the only thing that differs from Reliance Jio, in this case, is the truly unlimited calling facility which these telcos offer to their customers. This means that by offering truly unlimited calls to its subscribers, both Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel have surpassed Reliance Jio in terms of benefits being offered. Reliance Jio, on the other hand, is only offering 2,000 minutes of non-Jio calls, after which the subscribers will be charged 6 paise per minute.

The same is true for the Bharti Airtel Rs 449 prepaid plan which ships 2GB data per day to the subscribers. With this plan as well, the subscribers will be able to enjoy 100 SMS per day, and again the edge over Reliance Jio prepaid plan would be the unlimited calling benefit which is something that Reliance Jio is capping. All of the above-mentioned plans come with 56 days validity and are new additions to their respective portfolios.
