India's leading telecom & DTH operator Bharti Airtel launched an app today to help out retailers & dealers who sell/recharge Airtel Digital TV connections. The app named 'M-boss' is basically for their partner retailers who have an active LAPU account.

The app is designed to make recharges, adding top-up channels, and viewing subscribers information. Retailers can also book a new DTH order or Multi-DTH application from the app. With this app, retailers would be able to change customer’s viewing package as per their demand. The app requires one time password (OTP) when a retailer enters his LAPU mobile number.

As of now, Airtel DTH partner retailers use an USSD-based system for booking new connections, recharging a DTH account, and other services. The app will enable thousands of retailers to make those transactions through few taps from their smartphones.

Other DTH players also have service apps for their partner, so this is true that Airtel takes a lot of time to make such kind of apps. However, Airtel has an edge over other DTH players as they provide SIMs which are modified to use channel sales through USSD. Other operators uses SMS-based services primarily.

However, the app is available only on the Play Store, so it can be installed only on Android Smartphones, but not iPhones or Windows Phone devices. If you are an Airtel DTH partner/retailer, you can try the app by downloading from the Google Play Store.
