According to a recent study conducted by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), nearly 77% of urban users and 92% of rural users in India rely on smartphones as their primary device for internet access. The sheer amount of data shared via mobile devices, along with the increased risk of mobile traffic spurred Aircel to evaluate solutions to provide its customers with the best to enhance performance and safeguard information on their devices.

For this Aircel, one of India’s leading mobile service providers has teamed up with Avast, the global leader in digital security products with an average base of 400 million customers across the globe. Under this partnership, over 80 million subscribers of Aircel will have access to Avast Mobile Security and Avast Cleanup (a performance optimization application) as part of the Aircel Protect offering.

An Aircel customer can now buy Aircel Anti-virus at only Rs 30 per month or at just Rs 205 annually from the all-new Aircel app. An Aircel Cleaner for optimising the smartphone performance will also be available soon at only Rs 30 per month.

Elaborating on its partnership with Avast, Anupam Vasudev, Chief Marketing Officer, said, “Today, issues of data breach and its unlawful usage are plaguing the customers’ trust. As a responsible digital telecom player, we recognise their seeded apprehensions and hold mobile device and data protection as a key business priority. Our partnership with Avast Mobile is the most recent example of our commitment to provide highest standards of data security solutions to our valued customers and partner network. With the launch of Aircel Anti-Virus app they can now not only protect their device but even their most sensitive data.”

Data collected by Avast shows a 40% growth in mobile attacks year-on-year in the second quarter of 2017. A clear indicator that, the security and data threats on the mobile not only stay risky but continue to grow.
