ACT Fibernet has become one of the most popular broadband service providers in the country, and it is also one of the few operators in the space which is offering speeds of up to 1 Gbps. However, in a new update, ACT Fibernet has announced a partnership with Greater Chennai Corporation to deploy Wi-Fi hotspots across the city. As per the latest release from ACT Fibernet, the initiative is part of the Smart City project which has been hatched by the government and will be carried out by Greater Chennai Corporation. After this project is finished, the public will be able to seamlessly connect to the internet for free using the Wi-Fi hotspots. ACT Fibernet has revealed that along with Greater Chennai Corporation, it has installed more than 25 Wi-Fi zones across prime locations in the city including 14 Amma Canteens across 15 Zones in Greater Chennai Corporation. As per ACT Fibernet, up to 250 to 300 users will be able to log-in at one time to these Wi-Fi zones to experience high-speed internet for free from ACT Fibernet.

Users to Enjoy Up to 20 Mbps Speed

In its release, ACT Fibernet has also detailed that the users will be able to use the internet for 30 minutes with the speed of 20 Mbps to upload and download files browse online, watch videos, visit social media handles and more. These Wi-Fi hotspots will also be very useful for ACT Fibernet users as they would be able to enjoy similar speeds as their home at these Wi-Fi zones using their log-in credentials. So, while the other non-ACT Fibernet users will be enjoying speeds up to only 20 Mbps, the ACT Fibernet subscribers will be able to use the Wi-Fi at much higher speeds like 100 Mbps.

About this new launch, Mr Sandeep Gupta, COO, Atria Convergence Technologies Ltd commented, “The Government of Tamil Nadu is committed to deliver wide network Wi-Fi connectivity in the state through various smart city projects. ACT Fibernet’s vision is to deliver high-speed internet to all citizens, and we are extremely privileged to work with government to bring superfast internet via hotspots to the common man. With this initiative, many more people can access high-speed internet and help accelerate the government’s vision of inclusive Digital Tamil Nadu and Digital India.”

Mr G. Prakash, IAS, Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, also added, “ACT Fibernet is one of the most trusted fibre broadband providers in India, and we are happy to have them on board. ACT Fibernet has been providing high-speed and futuristic internet connectivity to millions of homes in India, many of our government schools are also powered by their fibre internet connectivity.”

ACT Subscribers in Chennai Enjoy Better Plans

To recall, last month ACT Fibernet has upgraded its speeds in Chennai. While Bengaluru and Hyderabad are some of the most promising markets for ACT Fibernet, Chennai has now also come into that category. In this new revision, ACT Fibernet had upgraded the speeds of the plans being offered in Chennai to ship at least 50 Mbps. Also, as compared to the other cities, the Chennai subscribers of ACT Fibernet enjoy better benefits as the ACT Giga plan with 1 Mbps speed is the cheapest one across all of ACT Fibernet portfolio. While the subscribers in other cities have to pay Rs 5,999 for this plan, the Chennai subscribers of ACT Giga plan only pay Rs 2,999, which is half the price.
