Verizon Business said it has activated more than 740 new Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) lines with the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet), a transit agency providing bus, light rail, commuter rail, and paratransit service in the Portland metro region. This deployment will enable passengers to pay fares using their mobile wallets or contactless payment cards while also providing connectivity and information to transit operators, Verizon said in a recent announcement.

Future Plans for Enhanced System
TriMet's future plans include using this enhanced connectivity to further improve system performance and security. The activation of the new FWA lines builds on an existing partnership between Verizon Business and TriMet, according to the official release.
Verizon Business is the exclusive critical connectivity provider for the Portland-area agency that provides multimodal transit service across a 533-square-mile service district.
