Vodafone Idea Foundation (VIF), in collaboration with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), has established an IoT Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) in Delhi. The CoE aims to equip engineering students, especially women, with hands-on training in cutting-edge technologies like 5G, AI/ML, and IoT, fostering their skills for the digital era.
"As India leads the digitalisation wave with emerging technologies, we have taken an important step to develop the right skill-sets for Indian youth," said P. Balaji, Director of Vodafone Idea Foundation. The CoE will drive innovation and contribute to India's digital transformation, supporting its global position as a tech innovator.

Arvind Bali, CEO of TSSC, highlighted the telecom industry's growing demand for skilled workers, stating that the CoE focuses on enhancing livelihood opportunities for women in the STEM field. The training modules will address various IoT applications, providing practical learning experiences for 300 students this year.
Dr Amita Dev, Vice Chancellor of IGDTUW, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasising the significance of bridging the gap between academia and industry. The CoE aims to foster gender diversity, offering women enhanced opportunities, mentorship, and hands-on training in STEM fields.
