Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier has extended its Lambda network by introducing a new route linking Sofia, Bulgaria, to Varazdin, Croatia. According to the official release, this new route is shorter than the previous pathway, improving latency by 5ms and diversifying network options across the region.

Sofia-Varazdin Route Launch
The telecommunications carrier stated that the addition of the Sofia-Varazdin route establishes a more direct path between Sofia and Vienna, Austria, reducing latency, improving data transmission speed and enhancing the overall user experience for customers in the region. Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier offers several Points-of-Presence (PoPs) from Varazdin, including popular locations like Zagreb and Budapest.
The new route also presents a viable substitute for the heavily used Budapest to Vienna connection as it circumvents that area. Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier said, "While the primary focus lies on delivering 100G services along the Sofia to Zagreb route, we offer bandwidth options ranging from 1G and 10G and up to 400G, ensuring a personalized solution for every customer."

The Lambda Connect solution, powered by Ciena's WaveLogic 5 Extreme 800G and built on the company's DWDM architecture, quickly delivers large volumes of data worldwide.
Shortest Asia-Europe Gateway
Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier launched PoP in Balchick, Bulgaria, establishing a gateway that is the shortest route between Asia and Europe in March 2023, as reported by TelecomTalk.

400GE technology
Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier utilises 400GE technology through Lambda Connect. By utilizing 400 GE instead of 4 x 100GE, the need for multiple interfaces, ports, power, space, equipment, and cooling is significantly reduced, resulting in a more sustainable and efficient solution.
Additionally, the data gets encrypted during transport through a unique end-to-end protection service known as Encrypted Lambda. Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier continues to meet the evolving connectivity needs of businesses and consumers on a global scale.
