The Poco F1 will be upgraded to Android 9 Pie in Q4 of 2018, the company had confirmed earlier. Living up to its promise, Poco after testing the Android 9 Pie with the MIUI beta testers is now rolling out the stable update of the software to the users. Poco F1, to recall, was launched with Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.6 on top. The smartphone has been recently upgraded to the latest MIUI 10 UI which brings a range of features to the phone. Xiaomi sub-brand launched the Poco F1 back in August this year and the smartphone managed to garner a lot of attention from the consumers for being the cheapest Snapdragon 845 phone available in the market right now. Although the hardware setup impressed a lot of consumers, the software struggled. Poco seemingly was aware of the same and hence promised to soon upgrade the Poco F1 to MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie. The company has lived up to its promise.

Poco F1 Gets Android 9 Pie With MIUI 10.1 on Top

The smartphone has been recently upgraded to MIUI 10 from the MIUI 9.6. With the MIUI 10, the Poco F1 gets several features like -- gestures navigation, new recent menu, Android P-like volume slider, PiP mode, lots of AI, among other features. Although the company is yet to officially confirm the coming of Android 9 Pie, some reports flooding the internet reveals that the Poco F1 is now getting Android 9 Pie's sweetness. Reports suggest that the Pie update is based on MIUI 10.1.

The screenshot of the changelog posted on MIUI Forums reveals that the MIUI 10.1 update comes with a build number V10.1.3.0.PEJMIFI, and is 1.7GB in size. The software update also brings Android security patch for November 2018. According to the changelog, the key highlights of the new update includes Android 9 Pie support and Google Lens support. Additionally, the update also restores issues with Android Auto, "restore Microphone didn’t work after earphones had been connected" and "restore Settings for turning off the screen automatically couldn’t be used".

The update has reportedly been started rolling out beginning today, and hence it might take some time until the update reaches all the Poco F1 users globally.

Poco F1 Price Cut in India

In other news, Poco last week announced that the Poco F1 has managed to garner seven lakh users in just a few months of its launch. On account of celebrating the milestone, the company has announced Rs 1,000 permanent price drop on all variants. After the price cut, the Poco F1 is now available for a starting price tag of Rs 19,999 in India. With the price cut, the Poco F1 becomes the first Snapdragon 845 smartphone to be priced under Rs 20,000.
