The latest contender in the budget smartphone segment, Realme has teased its second offering in the Indian market – the Realme 2. After gaining massive success for its first device, the formerly Oppo owned company posted a flyer of Realme 2 on its website today and quickly took it down. However, not a lot of people missed this teaser. The Realme 2 had been in talks a few days back, and an announcement was suspected especially after the brand managed to sell a lot of units of the Realme 1. Although there has been no official announcement of this phone from the company, below are the pointers that we have collected based on rumours and hints.

Realme Teases Realme 2

Poster

Either intentionally or unintentionally, the Realme 2 was exposed on the website by the company via a poster. The poster was live on the site for quite some time, and then it was taken down. The graphic showed the upper side of the Realme 2 along with the words ‘A Notch Above’. Given that the rumours of the phone were already floating around the internet, and the tech community already knew about the phone, the expectations from the Realme 2 teaser were pretty high. However, this new teaser poster did confirm some of the speculations about the new phone.

Leaked Specifications

The Realme 2 poster revealed that the phone comes with a notch design similar to many other smartphones these days. The phone also comes with a taller form factor. On the rear, the device has a fingerprint sensor placed in the middle along with a horizontally mounted dual rear camera setup. Apart from that, the company revealed a blue colour variant for this new phone. Also, Realme has stuck to its signature diamond cut design for the rear side as it did with the Realme 1. Given that Realme 2 is a budget offering, it is expected to come with a slight improvement compared to its predecessor.

Realme 2 Launch Date

As per Slashleaks, the new phone has been expected to launch on August 26 in India, and it has also been suspected to come with a price tag which stands somewhere north of Rs 18,000. The price has been pegged given its similarity to the Oppo F7 which retails for Rs 19,990 for the 64GB variant. This time around, Realme is expected to pack an impressive Snapdragon processor and quality camera hardware in its phone.

Overview of Realme 1: Specifications and Price

The Realme 1 was the company’s first offering in India which went live on sale on an exclusively online model. The phone sports a 6-inch Full HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio screen without the notch. Under the hood, the phone is powered by 2GHz Mediatek Helio P60 octa-core processor and comes paired with 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB of RAM depending on the variant.

On the software front, the phone boots Android 8.1 Oreo. As for cameras, the phone sports single sensor dual and rear setup which comes with AI additions and Face Unlock capability. The Realme 1 went up for sale in India with a price tag of a meagre Rs 8,999.
