WhatsApp was last seen testing the ‘Mute’ and ‘Mark as Read’ feature on its beta version. Now the Facebook-owned messaging app is extending the functionality to all of its beta users. Users who wish to see the functionality in action will have to be using the latest WhatsApp Beta version. Also, new detail about the feature has come up which tells us that the option will only be available once you receive more than 51 messages from a particular user. In addition to this, WhatsApp also seems to be testing stickers on the platform which it announced in the F8 Developers conference.
The new ‘Mute’ button will surface on the notification panel itself and will help users manage the app in a better and faster way by giving the option right in the notifications. The ‘Mute’ option will be on the right-hand side of the ‘reply’ button which appears in the notifications. The feature has been successfully spotted by WABetaInfo on version 2.18.216 and even on 2.18.218.
Last week, another feature was spotted by WABetaInfo which is the ‘Mark as Read’ feature. Out of the two, the Mute button is finally now available for the beta users. However, there is no sign of the ‘Mark as Read’ button in the latest WhatsApp update. To recall, the ‘Mark as Read’ functionality allows the users to mark the messages as read directly from the notification, without opening the app.
Another feature which is highly awaited on WhatsApp is the inclusion of stickers in the app. During the F8 Developers Conference in May, Mark Zuckerberg has already spoken about the element and confirmed that it would be rolled out this year. With the version, 2.18.218 in the pipeline, WABetaInfo has released the preview of stickers in the WhatsApp which were first spotted. Sticker pack within the WhatsApp Sticker Store will be identifiable with a green plus '+' button, and an 'Update' button will allow users to update the sticker pack with a single click.
The first preview which WABetaInfo released, included stickers of Bibimbap Friends and Unchi & Rollie, which are not expected to come to the platform in the initial rollout. Also, it is expected that WhatsApp may bring stickers from Facebook messenger itself, third-party stickers will also be a possibility in the future.
