Vivo has announced a new smartphone in the Indian market today, dubbed as the Vivo Y53i, as we reported last week. The company has already started selling the device at a price of Rs 7,990. For the asking price, the device will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5, Tenor E. But the primary competitor for the Vivo Y53i will be the recently launched Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) smartphone because both Samsung and Vivo have a strong offline footprint in the Indian market. And the specifications of both the Y53i, Galaxy J2 (2018) are in-line with each other. Let’s find out which smartphone is the better one between the two.

Specifications of the Vivo Y53i
The Vivo Y53i is the stripped down version of the Vivo Y53 that was launched last year. The Y53i sports a 5-inch qHD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Internally, it’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, clubbed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and the phone also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB.
The Y53i has dual-SIM card slots and offers 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro USB port. Vivo has added an 8MP rear camera to the smartphone along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Vivo has also added an Ultra-HD camera feature which combines four images and delivers the final image. The device also comes with Face Access, which is the company’s own version of Face Unlock.
