Vivo has announced a new smartphone in the Indian market today, dubbed as the Vivo Y53i, as we reported last week. The company has already started selling the device at a price of Rs 7,990. For the asking price, the device will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5, Tenor E. But the primary competitor for the Vivo Y53i will be the recently launched Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) smartphone because both Samsung and Vivo have a strong offline footprint in the Indian market. And the specifications of both the Y53i, Galaxy J2 (2018) are in-line with each other. Let's find out which smartphone is the better one between the two.

Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) also offers similar specifications as the Vivo Y53i. It has a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution. It's also powered by the Snapdragon 425 SoC, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The phone comes in three colour options- Gold, Black and Pink. The microSD card slot on the J2 (2018) accepts up to 256GB SD cards. An 8MP rear camera is present on the smartphone and Samsung has added a 5MP front-facing camera. Both the cameras come with support for an LED flash.

The device is fuelled by a 2600mAh battery and offers connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro USB port. This dual-SIM smartphone comes laden with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The smartphone also ships with Samsung Mall shopping applications. The Galaxy J2 (2018) is available for purchase at Rs 8,190.

Conclusion
As you can see, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) and the Vivo V53i feature similar specifications, but the addition of Super AMOLED display and Android Nougat version on the J2 (2018) makes it a winner. If you're looking to pick a smartphone in the online market, then your pick should be the Xiaomi Redmi 5 which is available in open market sale on Amazon India. Xiaomi is also selling the Redmi 5 in Big Bazaar stores for a limited period until May 2.
