Xiaomi Mi 7 With Snapdragon 845 SoC Likely to Launch at the MWC 2018

Xiaomi is now expected to launch its flagship product, the Xiaomi Mi 7 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 event next month in Barcelona. Xiaomi is now officially listed on the GSMA website as the official MWC 2018 exhibitors, meaning the Chinese company will announce something at the biggest tech show. Xiaomi doesn't have anything scheduled for the next month, so it's quite possible that the much-hyped Mi 7 will come out.

Xiaomi announced the Mi 5 at the MWC 2016 event, but the company did not make any announcements at the MWC 2017 event. Instead, the Xiaomi Mi 6 arrived at an exclusive launch event held in China in April 2017. And it now looks like Xiaomi is going back to basics to launch the Mi 7 at the Mobile World Congress 2018. The MWC 2018 will take place between February 26 and March 1.

Last month, at the Qualcomm Summit, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that its upcoming flagship device aka, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will come powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC itself. Lei Jun also confirmed that they would unveil the Mi 7 during Chinese spring season, which is during the end of February and March. With all these factors, we can safely assume that the phone will arrive way before of the expected April launch.

Talking about the rumoured features of the Xiaomi Mi 7, the phone will come with an 18:9 display and the design is expected to be in-line with the Apple iPhone X. Xiaomi is rumoured to be using a glass back on the phone because the company is looking to include wireless charging feature. For the unaware, Xiaomi recently became a member of Wireless Power Consortium, hinting the wireless charging feature presence on the Mi 7.

Rest of the specs include the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled to 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. A dual camera setup will be present at the back of the phone, along with a single front-facing camera. Also, Lei Jun recently claimed that the Mi 7 would be smarter instead of powerful, hinting at Artificial Intelligence features to the phone. In addition, the forthcoming MIUI 10 version is also rumoured to come with a lot of new AI features to enhance the overall user experience.

Last year, Xiaomi launched only two flagship handsets- the Mi 6 and the Mi Mix 2. Hopefully, the same continues this year too. Leaks about the Mi 7 Plus are making waves on the web, but it's unlikely that Xiaomi will launch a bigger variant of the Mi 7, like last year.
