BSNL is known for its bold moves in the telecom market. The state-run telecom operator yet again made a bold move by reducing the validity of two of its most popular plans- STV 485 and STV 429. The Digital India 429 plan of BSNL and Plan 485 were valid for 84 days in the past, but the operator revised both the plans and they are now valid for 71 days and 74 days respectively.

In a press statement, BSNL said that the changes would be effective from January 4, 2018, in circles where the company is offering both the plans. BSNL is offering these plans in popular circles such as Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, etc.

Talking about the benefits offered by these tariff plans, the BSNL Digital India Plan 429 now gives 1GB data per day, unlimited local & STD calls in the home circle for 84 days. Sadly, this plan doesn't offer any free roaming calls and SMS as they will be charged at standard rates. These benefits are valid for 71 days from the date of recharge.

The Plan 485 from BSNL offers the same 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, but the unlimited calls include roaming calls as well, except for Mumbai and Delhi. The Plan 485 doesn't offer any SMS benefits like the Plan 429. The validity of the Plan 485 is now decreased to 74 days.

On December 4 last year, BSNL reduced the validity of both these plans from 90 days to 84 days, and within one month, the operator reduced the validity yet again. In a time where private telecom operators are looking to offer more validity plans, BSNL is reducing the validity of its existing plans.

BSNL has done the same in the past as well. There were numerous occasions of BSNL reducing the validity of its popular plans out of nowhere. This is the second massive change from BSNL this year. Just a couple of days, the government-owned PSU revised the broadband night free voice calling from 9 PM - 7 AM to 10:30 PM - 6 AM.
