LG G7 Reportedly Expected to Arrive With Advanced IRIS Scanner

South Korean smartphone brand, LG Electronics is expected to launch its next-generation flagship smartphone in early 2018. And it's likely that the smartphone will be dubbed as LG G7, a successor to the LG G6 smartphone released earlier this year. Several rumours cite that the phone will be released at the MWC 2018 show, while some suggest an early release in January 2018 release.

LG has now signed a new patent, which suggests an advanced IRIS scanner. And the best part is the new IRIS scanning technology will be ready for the release of LG G7. What separates this new IRIS scanning patent from Samsung's IRIS scanning is that it uses the camera module itself, unlike a separate Infrared Light module.

Thankfully, there won't be many sensors present above the display, which will also result in a smaller bezel. The LG G7, like the G6, also expected to come with an 18:9 display on the front. To be frank, the LG G6 was the first bezel-less smartphone launched this year, which was followed by Samsung's Galaxy S8 lineup and several other smartphones.

Furthermore, the IRIS scanning feature on the G7 will also allow users to protect sensitive information on the smartphone. There aren't many details available on the upcoming LG G7 at the moment. As per a leaked report, the G7 is expected to have a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

The LG G6 also arrived with a Quad HD+ display, and the recently announced LG V30 also has a Quad HD+ display. So, it's safe to assume a Quad HD display on the G7. Under this hood, the show should be run by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. Hopefully, LG uses 6GB of RAM in the base model as well like how Samsung did with the Galaxy Note 8.

The G7 is also expected to feature two cameras at the back- a standard RGB sensor and a secondary wide-angle sensor. LG may go with a single front camera setup. The device will surely run Android 8.0 Oreo update out of the box, and the battery capacity is expected to be 3500mAh with fast charging support.
