Earlier this month, Google rolled out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update to the compatible Nexus devices except for the Motorola Nexus 6. The move was not a surprising twist for the Nexus 6 owners as they got the first Nougat update a bit later than the other Nexus devices. Many Nexus 6 users were wondering if Google is going to drop them from update chart, but we have finally got the word from Google about Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Nexus 6.

No, Google is not abandoning the Nexus 6 just yet. The tech giant revealed the reason behind the delay in rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update and the reason is the last minute bug that was found in the update package. As a matter of fact, Motorola Nexus 6 is the only old Nexus device that still holds a spot on Google's upgrade chart. The phone made a debut over two years ago. The phone got the first Nougat update in October, and it is probably going to receive the Android 7.1.1 update at the beginning of next year.

Here's the official statement that Google made on Android Police,"Unfortunately, we found a last minute bug that was specific to the Nexus 6, which has caused the delay of the 7.1.1 OTA rollout. We've since fixed the issue and will be rolling out an update in early January."

The Motorola Nexus 6 owners will have to wait until January to get the Android 7.1.1 OTA update. Stay tuned with us to know about it as it happens.
