Cyanogen has just started the rollout of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12.1 update to all the OnePlus  One users via the OTA route. The update will roll-out in a phased manner to all the users over the next few days, so don't fret if you don't get it immediately. Right now, only 2 percent of the total users have received the update.

The Cyanogen OS 12.1 update brings some security updates including a fix for the Stagefright security exploit that recently came to light. The Stagefright exploit makes a device vulnerable to being hacked using a special media file through an MMS. The exploit allows hackers to take charge of things in the device that has been exposed. OnePlus has already released the security patch for the OxygenOS for both its smartphones, the OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2.

The update has a file size of about 645MB, and comes with the build number YOG4PAS1N0. As a result of the latest update, your device will now run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based  Cyaongen OS 12.1 in its latest guise, no matter what build number you were previously using. Just in case you happen to be on Android 5.0 Lollipop currently, there is another update of 304MB waiting for you to be installed.

The update also brings in the activation of the home button in Chrome browser. The home page comes with Bing as the default search engine. The latest Cyanogen OS 12.1 update for the YU Yuphoria and the YU Yureka is expected to be rolled out soon too. Yu had stated back in June that the update had entered its final stages of testing.

"This update provides critical security fixes for your device to address recently publicized vulnerabilities on Android devices. As this is a sizable update, please allocate 20 minutes for the installation process and ensure your device is fully charged before proceeding with the install," is what the notification update reads.
