Voice calling on WhatsApp has been one of the most awaited features since the past year. It announced voice calling for Android and iOS users earlier this year but the Windows Phone users were left out post stating that the update for them was coming soon. As a matter of fact, the beta version of voice calling for WhatsApp reached BB OS 10.3 users before their Windows Phone counterparts.
But the update is now rolling out to Windows users and it is available even in India. You now get a dedicated menu for calls and when you head over the information section of the contact, you now get a calling icon which can be pressed to make a WhatsApp call. The is currently in the beta stage and will see a final release soon.
What is surprising is that we got the update automatically without being enrolled in the beta program so there may be other users as well who get the update. WhatsApp happens to be the most popular instant messenger globally and the voice calling functionality has made it all the more better equipped against the likes of Viber, Line or Tango.
Do let us know in the comments section if you get the update.
