We all know that customers are free to port out to any network of their choice retaining their mobile number via MNP provided you complete 90 days on a network. Some serious customers usually switch because of dissatisfaction with services, while some migrate just because of PORT in offers.
Operators should always try to see how they can regain a lost customer. In a measure to get back lost customers TATA DOCOMO have taken a wonderful step to welcome back customers who have PORTED OUT from their network due to various reasons.
Now, we came across an experience where a TATA DOCOMO user who PORTED OUT an year back joined Idea Cellular, received a Welcome Back Message and Offer from TATA DOCOMO to join them back when he sends a PORT message from Idea Cellular.
The Six Sigma statistics and techniques say that retaining a customer is 10 times more difficult than to get a new customer.
As an analyst, i feel this is a good step and welcome move taken by TATA DOCOMO. Leaving to the interest of customers to join back their network, this can be useful atleast as a mark of memory of their previous operator. This doesn't cost TATA DOCOMO a lot but it values them a lot when any customer atleast feels that personal touch and joins them back.
