We know what is the situation with so called 'Standards' these days. So, there are 3 standards for wireless charging of devices; Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP), Power Matters Alliance (PMA) and Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). For the first time, there is a PMU chip that supports all these wireless charging standards. This means that any phone, tablet or other device fitted with Broadcom BCM59350 PMU chip will support all the wireless charging accessories. This will be a relief to consumers who would want to make use of wireless charging for their devices.

This new PMU chip form Broadcom has 88 percent AC to DC efficiency and a Boost Mode which ensures charging with 50 percent less voltage. It also supports 7.5 watts of power for faster charging of devices as opposed to 5 watts of power on older chargers. Although, Broadcom hasn't yet announced any partners who will be using this chip in their devices or chargers.
