Xolo Q1000 Opus gets Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, comes with a slew of bugs

Xolo has just started rolling out an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Xolo Q1000 Opus. The smartphone also happens to be the one that comes with a Broadcom processor and was the first device to be released under the partnership. Xolo Q1000 Opus also happens to be the first smartphone from the stable to get an Android 4.4.2 upgrade. The Kernel comes dated as of 29th April and the build number has been dated 3rd of May.

The update not only puts it ahead of its rivals, but also makes it the only budget device for the time being to run on the latest software version. The update brings a slew of changes along with it which are:

•  Restyled status and navigation bars
• Color emoji
• Printing support
• New camera UI
• New phone dialer which can look up your contacts straight from the dial pad
• Usability improvements

The update isn’t an OTA update. You instead have to download the 294 MB update file from here. Then you need to rename the same from “update_Kitkat” to “update” and install it manually to your device then.

But as soon as the customers started installing it, they were bogged down by a lot of issues concerning the update. Here are the issues that are being reported:

• Inability to use Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot and Wi-Fi signals dropping
• Hanging and excessive lag in the UI
• Brightness is getting altered on its own in the manual mode

The customers who were delighted till yesterday about the update think otherwise today. If you own one, we suggest you wait and don’t go ahead with the same untill Xolo fixes up the issue. In the past, Xolo has been releasing a slew of updates to fix issues in the device and is expected to do so for it too in future.
