After the success of the Kindle line of tablets, Amazon is getting ready to launch its first smartphone. While earlier rumors detailed the device's unique hardware assisted 3D abilities, the latest leak showcases the design of the device.

As you can see from the image above, Amazon's first smartphone takes a lot of styling cues from devices like the iPhone, Galaxy S line and the HTC One. The front hardware button is reminiscent of what Samsung uses on its Galaxy S line, the bezel on the front of the device is very similar to the HTC One and the speaker grille at the bottom of the device is identical to what is offered on the iPhone.

When it comes to the hardware details, Amazon is deviating from the norm and deciding to stick with mid-range hardware. Amazon's smartphone will come with a  4.7-inch 720p screen, a quad-core Snapdragon CPU, which will likely be the Snapdragon 400, 2 GB RAM and a version of Amazon's Kindle Fire OS that is tailored for mobile devices.

Amazon will offer a forked version of Android, which means that users have to relay on Amazon's digital services instead of Google's offerings. Amazon is the only entity who managed to find a modicum of success even after using a forked version of Android, most of which is due to its robust digital content ecosystem. In fact, the retail giant takes a loss on its hardware devices like the Kindle Fire range of tablets, but manages to make an overall profit from its digital services, like Amazon Prime.

Another new feature on Amazon's mobile device is a new gesture-based navigation system that will rely on the on-board cameras and sensors to gauge user movements. We don't really have any idea as to how works until we see it action. It looks like we don't have to wait that long though, as Amazon is rumored to launch the device sometime next quarter.
