Vodafone, TSECL make it easy for people in Tripura to pay electricity bills via Vodafone M-Pesa

Vodafone India, along with BillDesk for Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) today announced a facility whereby customers will be offered cashless, secure and easy electricity bill payments using Vodafone M-Pesa, Vodafone’s digital wallet service. Through this initiative, around 5 lakh customers in Tripura will be able to pay their electricity bills through M-Pesa, the company estimated.

Commenting on this initiative, Alok Verma, Business Head, Assam & North East, Vodafone India said, “It has been our constant endeavor to deliver and bring world class service experiences to our customers in Tripura. The Vodafone m-Pesa association with the TSECL is one such initiative which will fulfill the need for a simple, timely and cashless payments solution to the consumers through their mobile phones”.

This service is also open to Non-Vodafone customers of TSECL. They can register themselves for Vodafone M-Pesa. Vodafone M-Pesa customers can pay the bill through their mobile phones through M-Pesa app or by dialing *400#, Or visiting M-pesa portal. Customers can also choose M-Pesa as a payment option on TSECL website.

Elaborating further on the service, Suresh Sethi, Business Head, M-Pesa, Vodafone India said, “We are delighted to facilitate payments via M-Pesa (mobile wallet), safe, fast and convenient way of bringing bank to the mobile. With this facility, TSECL (through BillDesk) customers now have an access to multiple touch points for electricity bill payments in a simple and hassle free manner. From process automation to instant and secure transaction, we are confident M-Pesa will bring transformational benefits to the people in Tripura and further drive financial inclusion in the state.”
