Route Mobile Limited, a messaging and voice API company, said that it has acquired Mumbai-headquartered Cellent Technologies. The acquisition is in line with Route Mobile’s strategy of pursuing inorganic growth to reach a wider set of enterprise customers as well as broaden its portfolio of products and services.

Cellent Technologies, part of the Goel Group, has a presence in the A2P messaging markets of the Middle East and Africa. More than 250 customers and a team of over 30 people are now part of Route Mobile’s family as part this acquisition.

"We are making strategic acquisitions to strengthen our presence in markets globally as well as to offer a wider set of products and services to our customers. This is our first such acquisition and we are delighted to have Cellent’s team and customers join the Route Mobile family," Rajdip Gupta, CEO, Route Mobile Limited, said in a joint statement.

The development comes at a time when the global A2P (application-to-peer) messaging market is seeing consolidation. Recently, Sweden’s CLX Technologies acquired Mblox, while Vonage bought Nexmo.

“We, at Cellent, are delighted to partner with Route Mobile's vision to build a world class messaging company from India. Consolidating will help our customers and our team to work together to offer stronger and differentiated products and services to the marketplace for years to come," Siddharth Goel, Founder & Director, Cellent, said in a joint statement.

Route Mobile Limited recently said that it was ranked No 6 among 32 messaging providers globally in the independently conducted A2P SMS Messaging Vendor Performance Report 2016 by ROCCO, one of telecom industry’s leading consultants and research companies.

260 Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) covering 188 countries were surveyed for this report. They rated A2P Messaging Services providers on more than 35 aspects under Performance and Leadership KPIs. Route Mobile came out on top on some very important criteria; some technical and tangible ones and other intangible ones.
