Idea Cellular Raises 2G Data Tariff, Now 1GB 2G Data at Rs.155

After Vodafone and Airtel, now Idea Cellular hikes its 2G data tariff by reducing free 2G Data usage up to 40% per cent approx in its most popular data packs including 1GB Mobile Internet – 2G Data pack of Rs.125.

Idea Cellular

Starting from Gujarat telecom circle, Idea Cellular has been cutting down on data freebies up to 40% approx to its customers, and increased the price of its 1 GB 2G data plan. Customers of Idea will now have to pay Rs.155 for 1GB of data, which had been Rs.126 before the price hike.

Idea customers in Gujarat circle will get just 625 MB 2G data usage valid for 21 days, almost 40% less with 2G data pack of Rs.126  Earlier this pack was offer 1GB 2G data for 30 days.

idea cellular 2g data pack-Gujarat

As of now Idea’s 2G data rates revised in Gujarat circle only. We can expect the similar changes also happens for other circles too (as operator has done in December, 2012) however its not confirmed yet. So we advise that those are regular users of Idea 2G Internet – GPRS packs, must call to customer care, or enquire about the all new changes in current data packs before making a recharge.

Earlier Vodafone India and Bharti Airtel too, has made similar changes in its monthly plans and reduced data limits available under various prepaid plans in certain telecom circles (Karnataka, Mumbai, UP and more) as we reported on TelecomTalk.

Tata ke packs bhi cheap hai , speed bhi achi khaasi hai …aur service bhi BSNL se jyada behtar hai .Sirf ek hi problem hai tata me ki uska internet har 40 minute me band ho jata hai …fir usey dobara connect karna padta hai ….sirf ek problem hai baaki koi problem nahi hai …. Aur baaki Airtel , vodafone aur Idea ..ye teeno network to bhai bhai hai … mil ke janta ko loot te hai … jo Internet pack kisi jamaane me Rs.98 me dete the wahi ab Rs.200 me de rahe hai .

In the recent days the usage of voice calls have declined and the usage of data services as grown up to a great extent. This the sole responsible why we are seeing such a tariff hike today… sad to see this as it may hit many mobile net users. Wish for a better plan soon…!!

Ridiculous. AVoId should increase their 2G data tariff to Rs 1/KB or Rs 1000/GB to sustain in this competitive market. Nonsense, they always refer about competition but don’t see other operators. TRAI should impose a fair ceiling on every tariff just like Roaming charges. No one should be the Supreme in market otherwise it will kill the competition.

Idea plans are also revised in Haryana. Now 98 provides 500 MB only for 21 days and 1GB cost is Rs.154 as per CC. Site not updated. 650MB in Rs.125 for 30 days. I have double data best offer under which Idea offering 600MB at Rs. 103. But 98 paper coupons are still providing 1GB for 30 days. When Idea revised plans and reduced usage from 2GB to 1GB in Rs.98 e-Recharge, paper coupon continued to provide 2GB. When it was revised from 1GB to 650MB in e-Recharge, paper coupons started providing 1GB. Now it is 500 MB and I think soon paper coupons will provide 650 MB. :D

BTW I finally getting Vodafone 3G signal at my home though signal is not good initially at have to hand my dongle outside or near window but OK to use Internet. Tested 150MB pack at Rs.43. Same thing happened when Idea started 3G here in August 2011. It took a month or so and only after that signal becomes full indoor.

Got 1GB @Rs.126 offer SMS which is one time. Will use it once my Aircel pack ends which is in December. lol Until then offer will be gone but will recharge with it on Nov 29, last date. But Yes Vodafone finally provided 3G here after 3 years of getting spectrum. The roll-out obligations are also going to end in next 2 years in which they have to cover 90% areas of the circle. In first 3 years it was 50% including cities and towns (nearby villages also) but they failed to do so. Now doing it at a pace.

I have a GSM Handset and dongle. For this cheap data on CDMA I will have to invest Rs.6000 or more i.e for a handset with EV-Do and good specs. I always thought of going for CDMA handset but end up not getting ti due to the cost and limited services and operators. Then you have very much complexity activating EV-DO and then configuring on OMH handsets. Those who already have CDMA can look for it but for new ones, it can’t be cost effective. Investing 6K for cheap data tariffs is not a good Idea and who knows when CDMA operators also reduce usage? In that situation it will bring loss. :)

Its not news… Everyone knows if vodafone has incresed prices of 2G plans then airtel & idea must follow Vodafone. Three cousins are heavy on all. we can’t AVOID them even we want. But i’m also uses airtel & idea 3g. Tata Docomo, Reliance and BSNL are providing worst services in our area. Idea, airtel & vodafone are only options for consumer. First of all all vodafone customers port their no. in any network. Because vodafone is the one who started this game. So its time to game over of vodafone. If you removes Vo from AVOID then remaining word is AID. AID combination will be helpful for consumers. Try it. I’ve Port Out from vodafone to idea.

As my experience Idea never provides affordable GPRS.
They have always been a good option for Voice only, their gprs plans are always costlier. And now as all operators are hiking tariff Idea too did it and became costlier for voice too. Its the worst situation for the customers.

          3. Aircel 3G
          4. BSNL 3G

So any suggestions by you (which operator to use)?

Only choice is Docomo or BSNL for cheaper 3G. Since I don’t have Docomo I am going for BSNL. I am not expecting very high speed on BSNL 3G. Just enough speed for net browsing.

In your case it depend on coverage. Go for operator which have 3G coverage in your location.
