IDEA Cellular Crosses 100 Million Subscriber Mark

IDEA Cellular, one of the leading mobile service operator today crossed the landmark of 100 million Mobile Subscribers making it the 4th largest wireless operator in terms of GSM/CDMA mobile service operators in India to achieve this milestone after the Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications (Rcom) and Vodafone Essar.

IDEA Cellular is also the 3rd largest mobile services operator in terms of only GSM services in India with wireless revenue market share at 13.9 % in Q1 FY2012. It recorded a subscriber base of over 100 million as of September 2011. Idea is a pan-India integrated GSM operator and has its own NLD and ILD operations, and ISP license.




With traffic in excess of a billion minutes a day, Idea ranks among the Top 10 country operators in the world and most preferred mobile service operators in terms of Mobile Number Portability in India.

Idea operates across all 22 service areas (telecom circles) with 2G services, and 3G services are being progressively rolled out to cover over 3,000 towns by FY 2012.
