If you are Android fanboy and hate Google for not launching Nexus phones in India, you have a good news. In a recent interaction with Google's Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt in Delhi said low cost smartphones with web browser and web client apps can be launched at $50 in a day not far off.

Eric Schmidt who is in India for Google Summit, also told that "Google has always encouraged phone makers to produce cheaper sets with web-browsing features so that mobile-based internet penetration gets a further fillip,"

In the emerging countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America there is huge demand of low cost or entry level smartphones as these countries are showing huge growth on internet usage. Currently India is positioned as 5th highest number of smartphone users in the world, and the number will grow further with 3G and 4G penetration. In India Android is the most popular mobile operating system beating Windows and Symbian, thanks to Indian handset manufacturers like Micromax, Lava, Karbonn and others who has ultra low cost smartphones to massify Android.

Recently Mozilla has launched FirefoxOS as another mobile operating system and already some operators as well as some handset makers joined in the partnership. Canonical backed popular Linux distro Ubuntu is also coming up with their mobileOS for smartphones. In this scenario low cost Androids from Google can be a breather for Android.
