Follow Us

At last, Xiaomi has started the rollout of MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM and the first device to get the latest update is Redmi Y2. MIUI 10 comes with a lot of changes and this update brings all of them to the Redmi Y2. Firstly, MIUI 10 has a new interface for notification panel and also comes with a slightly revamped Settings application. Furthermore, it also offers an AI-based Portrait mode to the single rear camera devices, but the Redmi Y2 comes with dual rear cameras, so it offers a hardware-based Portrait mode though. Xiaomi has even added links of Recovery and Fastboot ROMs of MIUI 10 for the Redmi Y2, but users on MIUI 9.6 will automatically receive an OTA update in the coming days. Do make a note it's a phased rollout, so not everyone will receive it today itself.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM Details

The Redmi Y2 becomes the first phone from Xiaomi to receive MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM, ahead of Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5. Both the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro recently received MIUI 9.6 update based on Android 8.1 Oreo because both the phones were released with Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 back in February this year. It might take at least a couple of months more for Xiaomi to roll out the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM to the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Note 5.

Coming to the Redmi Y2, the MIUI 10 stable update brings full-screen gestures, new user interface tailored for full-screen devices as the Y2 sports an 18:9 display. MIUI 10 also has a unique feature, dubbed Natural Sound System as Xiaomi is offering ambient sounds of the forest, beach, drizzle, stove fire, and summer night, to enhance the user experience.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM: How to Install

Firstly, do make a note that Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 10 OTA update to all the Redmi Y2 users, but it's a phased rollout, so it might take some time for the update to reach your phone. If you can't wait for the OTA update to arrive, you can alternatively download the Recovery ROM or Fastboot to manually install the update.

For the users who want to download the Recovery ROM, it's of 1.3GB in size and can be installed on the phone itself. After downloading the Recovery ROM, users should head over to System Updates screen and hit the 'three-dot' menu on top, then select the 'Choose Update Package' and choose the downloaded ROM file. Wait for the file to get processed and when prompted, hit the reboot button to finish the installation process.

Once the device gets booted, you can notice the changes and features brought by MIUI 10.
