Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Specifications and Features
The Redmi Y2 resembles a lot to the Redmi Note 5 in terms of on-paper specifications. The smartphone sports a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. Internally, the phone sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, coupled with 3GB/32GB of storage and 4GB/64GB of storage. There’s a dedicated microSD card as well for storage expansion up to 128GB.
Sadly, this device doesn’t support dual 4G and it lacks 5GHz Wi-Fi support too. The phone measures 8.1mm in thickness and weighs 170 grams. The Redmi Y2 is Xiaomi’s first smartphone in India to boot Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, topped by MIUI 9.5. The fingerprint scanner is present at the rear side, while the users can unlock the handset from the front using the Face Unlock functionality.
Cameras in the Redmi Y2 include a 12MP primary sensor to the back with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels and PDAF. There’s a secondary 5MP depth sensor which helps in adding the bokeh effect to the images. The camera also has support for Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). The Redmi Y2 is being touted as a selfie-centric smartphone because it has a 16MP shooter on the front with several AI-based camera tricks such as portrait mode, beauty mode and more.
The phone offers 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro USB port as connectivity options. The device is armed with a 3080mAh battery which lacks fast charging support.
