Since the launch of the Redmi Note 7 in China, there has been a lot of anticipation on when the smartphone will launch in India. Finally, Xiaomi India has confirmed that it's going to bring a 48MP camera smartphone to the sub-continent, which of course, will be the Redmi Note 7. However, it's unknown whether Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 7 that's launched in China with the Samsung 48MP sensor or the rumoured Redmi Note 7 Pro with the Sony 48MP sensor. It's entirely possible that the Redmi Note 7 Pro with the Sony 48MP rear sensor could make its debut as it has been subjected to numerous leaks and rumours in recent times. To recall, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India first, but it announced the Redmi Note 5 with better cameras in China.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Launching in India Very Soon
Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi India's Managing Director, announced this news Twitter, followed by a formal announcement by Redmi India's official Twitter handle. The highlight of the Redmi Note 7 is the 48MP camera on the rear side and Xiaomi India is touting the same. Notably, it will be the second smartphone with a 48MP camera to launch in India as the first one would be the Honor View 20 that's launching on January 29. Nevertheless, the Honor View 20 is a flagship smartphone which is expected to around Rs 40,000, but the Redmi Note 7 is a mid-range handset which is rumoured to cost less than Rs 15,000. The starting price of the Redmi Note 7 in China in 999 Yuan (approx. Rs 10,500).
At the moment, we're not sure on the pricing of the Redmi Note 7 in India. But it's going to be priced below Rs 15,000 in the sub-continent for the base variant. Also, it's unknown whether Xiaomi is planning to bring the 3GB+32GB variant of the handset.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7: Specifications and Features
The Redmi Note 7 is a powerful mid-range smartphone. On the front of the phone, there's a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Underneath, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. It could be possible that the Redmi Note 7 will launch in 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB variants in India. The phone also sports a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
As for the cameras, the Note 7 has a 48MP shooter on the back which works in tandem with a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, there's a 13MP selfie camera. The Redmi Note 7 is constructed out of glass and the fingerprint scanner resides on the rear side. With the Redmi Note 7, Xiaomi has moved to USB Type-C port which could also be followed by other brands very soon. As seen with earlier Redmi devices, the Redmi Note 7 also comes backed by a 4000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 technology. Pricing and Indian launch date of the Redmi Note 7 are awaited.
