WhatsApp Could Allow Users to Filter Chats in Future

WhatsApp is working on several new features to enhance the user experience, and one of them is 'Chat Filter'. As the name itself suggests, WhatsApp is expected to soon allow its users to filter the chats based on three options. As of now, the Facebook-owned company has a simple search function which works alright, but it gets extremely tough when you've got a myriad of chats. The Chat Filter feature will essentially help in solving the issue. As of now, the feature is said to be rolled out only for WhatsApp Business, but it could be added to standard WhatsApp for Android app as well.

When you head over to the search screen looking for a message, there will be three options as mentioned above and when you choose them, your message will be searched only in the particular category, making it easier to find. Right now, there's no such functionality on WhatsApp Business or standard WhatsApp, but the company might add the Chat Filter feature to WhatsApp app as well.

This news was reported by WABetaInfo, and the publication touted that there are no references of the Chat Filter feature on the standard WhatsApp application, so it could be exclusive to WhatsApp Business app at the moment. Also, the feature is under development at the moment and could be enabled in future updates with better design and improved functionality.

Talking about the WhatsApp Business service, the company has already started working on the iOS version, but again, there's no release timeline for the same. WhatsApp has already garnered three million active users on the Business platform, and by rolling out an iOS app, the active user base will be doubled.

The standard WhatsApp app for Android and iOS will soon receive the much-awaited Stickers feature and group video calling support. Furthermore, Facebook is expected to monetise the platform by adding ads, which would completely ruin the user experience.
