WhatsApp Android Beta

The Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has been working towards rolling out numerous new features for its users. Before these features are rolled out to the stable version of the app, it will test them on beta versions to resolve any issues that exist. Likewise, the tracker site WABetaInfo has revealed that it has spotted a slew of new features that are under testing on the app. As per the report, the instant messaging platform is working on a new UI, a default message timer, and changes related to the multi-device support.

WhatsApp New Features Under Testing

Going by the report, these new features have been rolled out to the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. Talking about the default message timer, it lets you start new chat threads with the disappearing messages enabled automatically. Also, it is releasing the ability to enable a default message timer for more people. You can turn this default message timer under the Privacy settings.

The report notes that you can enable the default message timer for contacts with options such as 90 days and 24 hours being the new options for disappearing messages. Also, the instant messaging app is rolling out a new UI for the beta version of its app, which will display contact info in a different manner.

Lastly, WhatsApp is likely prepping a change related to the multi-device support. The Android beta version 2.21.23.10 has been spotted with changes to the app. Going by the same, the app will stop sending notifications when the security code is updated each time the linked device is changed. However, WhatsApp will not let you opt out of the multi-device program.

Reportedly, the app is removing the option to opt-out of the multi-device beta and select beta testers who did not join this beta program can use the feature. The app is yet to roll out a stable version of this feature but it is enabled automatically for some beta testers. The report noted that this update logged out all the linked devices and you can relink these devices again using the multi-device support that has been enabled automatically for the account.
