[ Update: Coming Soon] Vodafone Prepaid Users Can Avail 50% Discount on Amazon Prime Membership: Here’s How

Vodafone's 'Amazon Prime for Youth' offer will allow new members to join Amazon Prime for the price

Highlights
  • The subscriber should be able to access the offer through MyVodafone app
  • The Amazon Prime membership will cost Rs 499 instead of Rs 999 for the Vodafone prepaid subscribers

Update: Vodafone confirmed that this offer is coming soon for all the prepaid customers across the country. At the moment, we’re not sure on the timeline though.

Vodafone is known for its unique offerings in the industry. The UK-based telco has a unique offering under its sleeves for its prepaid subscribers aged between 18 and 24 range. With the increasing competition in the prepaid and postpaid segment, the telecom operators are finding refuge in content-based offerings to boost the sales of their plans. While Bharti Airtel has racked up its postpaid plans with Netflix subscription to increase its attractiveness, Vodafone and Idea are shipping Amazon Prime membership for their customers. Also, there is the fact to consider that the users who are most attracted to these plans are the youth. Whether it is any OTT platform, Netflix or Amazon Prime, you will mostly find the people between age 18 to 24 with most subscriptions to their name. To have more attention of these subscribers, Vodafone has introduced an ‘Amazon Prime for Youth‘ offer.

Vodafone Amazon Prime for Youth Offer Details

The Youth Offer by Vodafone will avail the Amazon Prime membership to the subscribers between age 18 and 24 at just half the price. It is worth noting that Vodafone has rolled out this offer for prepaid customers and this will not be valid for the postpaid subscribers of Vodafone. Vodafone, in its website, has written that when Vodafone subscribers between 18—24 age buy a one year Amazon Prime membership, they will get 50% off on the total subscription amount. It is also worth noting that the Amazon Prime subscription will get the users to access not only perks like faster delivery and access to Prime sales, but they will also be able to access Amazon’s music streaming platform, Amazon Prime Music and its OTT platform Amazon Prime Video which hosts thousands of on-demand videos and TV series.

For postpaid subscribers, Vodafone is already providing free Amazon Prime subscription for one year with all its postpaid plans starting at Rs 399.

Things to Keep in Mind

Without the Vodafone U prepaid offer of 50%, a regular Amazon Prime membership would set back the buyer by Rs 999, however, combined with this offer, subscribers of Vodafone prepaid plan would be able to get it for Rs 499. Vodafone has also detailed that to avail the offer you will first need to download the My Vodafone app. After downloading the application, you will need to tap on the banner which you see on the front to make use of the offer provided to you. In case you already have the MyVodafone app, and you aren’t able to see the banner, then you will need to update your app once. Vodafone has also clarified that in case you are already an Amazon Prime member then the offer won’t be of much use to you unless you use it after your current subscription expires. Also, people in the age of 18 to 24, who are using someone else’s SIM card won’t get the benefit, and they will have to get a new Vodafone SIM in their name along with the eKYC to take advantages of this offer.

Vodafone* and BSNL 3G allows voice call and data usage at the same time. airtel 3G has blocked data usage during voice call on its 3G network. Stop cursing vodafone.

* means vodafone own 3G.

Does this happen in Tamil Nadu, or elsewhere as well? I mean, in Kolkata Airtel 3G data connection remains active on a call. But that’s of no use because Airtel has a horrible 3G network in Kolkata, considering data services. Their LTE is good, though.

Once Airtel-Tata merger gets approval, you won’t see Airtel 3G any more. You will see spike in speeds as well. Little bit though.

How is Vodafone’s condition in Mumbai? Their network has improved in Kolkata, so maybe they’ll improve there too, considering it’s one of their strongholds.

Sayak, Kolkata is not prime market of vil. Customers are low compared to capacity created per cellsite.. Mumbai is prime market and it is choked . Similar is the issue of Jio in Mumbai. It seems people are not experiencing any drastic speed change and hence no body is sharing speed test from Mumbai for Vodafone. Also they have surplus band 41 spectrum and band 1 too but not yet deployed… Once all spectrum pool is utilised then only speeds will reach 20 -30 Mbps on average… But it vil continuously lose market share in Mumbai then it will effect… Read more »

Oh. I thought Vodafone has the biggest market share in Kolkata. Yeah, I haven’t seen speed test results from Mumbai in the forum lately.

Chetan let’s talk about Kolkata first. Kolkata has 20Mhz in Band 41,10Mhz of band 1,15Mhz of band 3,5Mhz of band 8. Kolkata has almost similar customers compared to Mumbai with consideration of Vodafone people in Mumbai have left to Jio and Airtel in past six to eight months. Idea has 4G on band 1 yet on 5Mhz(Navi Mumbai sites). Vodafone hasn’t deployed 4G/3G quiet properly in Mumbai till last year May. It was based on 5Mhz on band 3 and 5Mhz on band 1 still. Just two weeks backs they have added 5Mhz more in band 3 making it 10Mhz… Read more »

Vodafone is just too slow in band 41 deployment.

Both of them were deploying band 3 only in last six months since merger got announced. They had deployed only 5Mhz in Mumbai of band 3. In last two weeks they added 5Mhz more. You can see where they stand in deployment. I think it will take time by the year end. Till that time subscribers will be under 250Million. Airtel has aggressively deployed band 3 in 2017,band 40 in 2018. In 2019,they will deploy band 8 and band 1. Hopefully they get at least 10Mhz in band 40 PAN India and 5Mhz in band 1 PAN India.

On which band? 3 or 41? At least 10Mhz in band 3 must have been deployed or whole 30Mhz in band 41 must have been deployed. Integration completed between Vodafone-Idea? Both 4G exist? I hope Vodafone-Idea buys at least 10Mhz in band 40 in their leadership circles in upcoming auctions.
