Competition in the Indian telecom market is really heating up. A few days ago Airtel announced a scheme which offers its users Airtel to Airtel Local & STD calls @ 50paisa per min. To counter that, Vodafone Essar -the leading GSM mobile service operator- has come up with an offer that is one step ahead.
Vodafone Essar is now offering Local and STD calls (as well as all SMSs) to any network within the country at 50 paisa per minute or per SMS for its prepaid mobile subscribers in Karnataka.
The existing GSM prepaid customers of Vodafone can avail the offer on recharge of Rs 75 with three months tariff validity or Rs 119 with six months validity.
While New prepaid customer can enjoy the above offer by recharge of Rs.77 (talk time Rs.10) and Rs.123 (talk time Rs.15) with three months and six months validity respectively.
“A customer today finds it difficult to distinguish between a local and a STD number as the number series for any operator is not in a uniform or consistent pattern. This uniform pricing strategy by Vodafone empowers our customers with a product that is simple, convenient and affordable. Our prepaid customers, close to 40 lakh in Karnataka alone, need not worry about whether they are calling or messaging a local or a national number.” stated K. Sankara Narayanan, Chief Executive Officer - Karnataka, Vodafone Essar South Limited.
