Vodafone today launched three new Unlimited Data Packages for its customers in India visiting Japan and Saudi Arabia priced at Rs.1499, Rs.2499 and Rs.3499.

Vodafone said that following appreciation from customers on the 60% discount on international tariffs that were introduced in June 2012, this new Unlimited International Roaming Data Package offer will be one more customer-friendly offering, enabling customers to use data on mobile services while travelling abroad.

The Vodafone India Unlimited International Roaming data packages are available in a choice of three different plans with convenient validity options – rental of Rs. 1499 (3 days), Rs.2499 (5 days) and Rs.3499 (7days).

These data benefits are offered in partnership with Softbank’s network in Japan and Mobility’s network in Saudi Arabia. Usage on any other international operator’s network in these countries will be charged at standard international data roaming charges of  Rs.5.50/10 KB.

Customers can activate the offer by sending an SMS ACTULJPN3/5/7 - for Japan & ACTULSAU3/5/7 -for Saudi Arabia (the number 3/5/7 stands for validity, basis the customer choice; only one number to be keyed in) to the toll free number 111 from Vodafone India’s home network. The rental charge for the plan chosen by the customer will feature in the billing cycle.

To know the details of the partner network, the customer needs to do the following:

  • Send a SMS PACK (space) Country name to 111. This will provide the customer with the network name and its handset display name.
  • The customer then needs to select the applicable network manually after arriving at his destination.
  • When a customer lands overseas he will again receive an SMS informing which operator to select on to avail the benefit.
