Vodafone Idea Launches 4G Network in Lakshadweep
Vodafone Idea (Vi), the third-largest private telecom operator in India, announced on Thursday the launch of 4G network connectivity in Lakshadweep, enhancing connectivity for residents, businesses, and tourists in the region. Vi said it has deployed 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz spectrum bands to connect over 20,000 residents and visitors on Agatti and Kavaratti, the largest islands of Lakshadweep.

Vi 4G in Lakshadweep

Vi noted that the launch of Vi GIGAnet, built on a tri-band spectrum in Lakshadweep, is part of its nationwide network expansion and enhancement initiative. "Following its successful FPO in April, Vi is expanding coverage in new territories, increasing capacity on existing sites, and upgrading network infrastructure to provide a superior customer experience," said the official release.

Enhanced Connectivity in Lakshadweep

Inviting Vi customers to experience Vi GIGAnet in Lakshadweep, R S Shantharam, Cluster Business Head, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Vodafone Idea, said, "The launch of Vi GIGAnet in Lakshadweep is an important step in enhancing 4G coverage in the remote areas. The relationship between Lakshadweep and Kerala is characterised by geographical closeness, as Kerala is the nearest and most accessible mainland in addition to cultural similarities, economic interdependence, and administrative ties.

"Being Kerala's No. 1 Mobile network, the launch of Vi GIGAnet in Lakshadweep will not only enhance communication but also open up new opportunities for education, business, and growth," Shantharam added.

Vodafone Idea added that the launch of Vi GIGAnet in Lakshadweep will enhance connectivity, provide faster data speeds, empower local businesses and students, and promote digital inclusion.

According to Vi, the launch of Vi GIGAnet will deliver improved coverage and access to high-speed data for both tourists and residents of the islands – just in time for the bustling year-end travel season, with connectivity essential for both residents and visitors.
