Vodafone Idea Limited today announced its partnership with Home Credit India which is an international consumer finance provider. According to Vodafone Idea, it's an industry-first strategic alliance that provides the customers of the telecom operator financial access to purchase a 4G smartphone. The company has confirmed that the partnership with Home Credit allows users to get a 4G smartphone at a down payment of just Rs 799. On top of that, Vodafone Idea prepaid customers purchasing a 4G handset through this partnership will be able to get a bundled plan offering benefits for 180 days. Smartphones on Home Credit are available at a starting price of Rs 3,999 and there are multiple options to choose from.

Vodafone Idea Prepaid Customers Can Avail Rs 799 Down Payment

Vodafone Idea says the partnership with Home Credit is established with the aim of upgrading Vodafone Idea customers to the latest 4G smartphones. We all know how successful was the original JioPhone priced at Rs 1,500. Reliance Jio already confirmed that it sold over 70 million JioPhones, so essentially it added 70 million users through JioPhone sales. In short, Vodafone Idea is looking to accelerate the adoption of 4G smartphones and democratise access to Vodafone Idea 4G.

Vodafone Idea customers can select any 4G smartphone of their choice from a wide range of options available on Home Credit. The prices of these smartphones start at Rs 3,999 and the value just goes upwards. Irrespective of the smartphone value, Vodafone Idea can choose the Rs 799 down payment option, making it a much lower than the market norm of down payment being 30-40% of the handset value.

Along with the down payment, Vodafone Idea prepaid customers will also get bundled prepaid plan. Irrespective of the handset value, the bundled plan with unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit, 1.5GB data per day and 100 SMSes per day comes with 180 days validity. And yes, the plan is valid for six months from the date of availing the down payment option.

Commenting on the partnership, Avneesh Khosla, Operations Director – Marketing, Vodafone Idea Limited said, “It is our constant endeavour to deliver the most relevant proposition and value to our customers. We are delighted to partner with Home Credit to offer easy finance options to encourage our customers to upgrade to 4G smartphones. This partnership will help fulfil the aspirations of several million mobile phone users across the country, including those who have never had access to credit before and those who desire a smartphone but couldn’t afford to pay upfront. This bundled telecom offer will enable non-users of 4G to upgrade and experience the benefits of mobile internet while enjoying a richer user experience with Vodafone Idea.”

How to Avail Down Payment Option on Home Credit

This offer is exclusive to the Vodafone Idea customers as it's a first of its kind partnership in the industry right now. Home Credit is currently offering finance service in 179 cities through the vast Point-of-Sale (PoS) network of 20,000. Vodafone Idea says its customers can walk into any PoS of Home Credit and upgrade their smartphone with ease.

Right now, the list of available 4G smartphones on Home Credit is not available, but Vodafone Idea says popular smartphones from top brands are available for selection. If Home Credit offers any of the recently launched Xiaomi or Realme smartphones at Rs 799 down payment, Vodafone Idea customers will incline towards getting the phone as they get bundled prepaid plan for six months.
