Vivo takes innovation to the all new level with the new generation NEX, dubbed as the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition. As rumoured, Vivo has launched the NEX Dual Display Edition phone in its home market China on Tuesday. This is the successor to the Vivo NEX that the company announced earlier this year. As happened with the Vivo NEX, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition also comes with new innovations. Going in line with the rumours, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition comes with dual screens – one on the front while the second one sits on the back side. The smartphone also features something called a Lunar Ring on the rear panel of the phone and includes triple camera setup which is responsible for clicking selfies as well. Yes, strangely enough, there’s no camera on the front panel.

Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition: Specifications and Features

The Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition varies a lot when compared to the Vivo NEX. Be it the design or the specifications, the new Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition is a much-enhanced version of the Vivo NEX. As far as the specs are concerned, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition comes packed with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and aspect ratio of 19.5:9 on the front. It’s a bezel-less display and has a screen to body ratio of 91.63%. Similarly, on the back side as well, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition includes a Super AMOLED screen. However, the screen covering the rear panel is smaller in size. It is 5.49-inches in size and comes paired with 1080 x 1920 resolution with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio.

On the hardware front, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with 10GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage. There’s no information if the storage can be expanded via microSD card or not.

Things get a little confusing as far as the camera functioning is concerned. There’s no camera sensor on the front, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition sports triple sensors on the back panel. As for the specs, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition features a primary camera of 12MP with OIS and f/1.79 aperture, a secondary camera of 2MP with f/1.8 aperture, which is said to be for collecting depth information. Lastly, the third one is a Time of Flight type (ToF) camera and it is primarily used for distance measurement and advanced face unlock. The phone also includes an in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. On the battery front, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition is backed by a 3500 mAh battery with fast charging at 10V/2.25A. On the software front, the Vivo phone runs Android 9 Pie with Funtouch OS 4.5 on top out-of-the-box.

Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition: Pricing and Availability

The Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition has been launched in China for a price tag of CNY 4,998, which when roughly translated comes around Rs 52,400. The smartphone will go on pre-orders in China starting December 29, the company has announced. As of now, there’s no report whether or not the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition will come to India. Considering the original NEX arrived in India, we are expecting the new model also to make its debut sometime later this month.
