Truecaller is constantly adding new features to its mobile app, which enhances the user experience. Today, the Caller ID service announced 'Truecaller Group Chat,' with unique features compared to other messaging apps available right now. Group Chat is one of the much-required features in a messaging app and Truecaller has finally added it. Group Chat in Truecaller offers unique features like group invites, hidden number, seamless switching between chat and SMS and categorised Inbox. Truecaller also announced the group chat feature would be available to both Android and iOS users starting today. Truecaller users will be able to get Group Chat through the update available via Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Truecaller Group Chat: What it Offers?
Truecaller is aiming to take on WhatsApp with this Group Chat service. That said, the Caller ID service does not offer any P2P chat service and the rollout of group chat comes as a surprise to many out there. Talking about the features offered by Truecaller Group Chat, we have the essential 'Group Invites.' Yes, group invites come in extremely handy for every user as almost everyone on WhatsApp faced random additions to a group without their permission. But in Truecaller, there will be an invitation sent to users upon adding to a group. The invite shows 'accept' or 'decline' message; If you press decline, you'll not be added to that particular group. Having said that, this is a much-needed feature even for WhatsApp users out there.
Another feature which is unique to Truecaller Group Chat is 'Hidden Number.' Whenever you're part of a random group, your mobile number will be displayed to every member of the group, but in Truecaller, numbers are automatically hidden in group chats unless other members have your number saved in their phone book. Alternatively, they can send a contact request to ask permission to see your phone number. Again a unique feature to have around.
Truecaller Group Chat also allows users to seamlessly switch between SMS or Group Chat. If a user does not have an active internet connection, then they can look out for the blue or green ‘send’ button. Lastly, there's the Categorised Inbox feature which separates messages based on saved numbers, spam or unsaved.
Truecaller Group Chat: Will it Take on WhatsApp?
Truecaller is probably the popular Caller ID service across the globe and it's available for both Android, iOS users. Last year, Truecaller had some privacy issues which questioned the existence of the app, but the company tackled the issue. Even though Truecaller lost its trust amongst the users, it's still the most preferred Caller ID service globally.
Since the start of 2018, Truecaller has been adding new features to the app. Last year, it added Truecaller Pay service, which allowed users to transfer money to others using UPI service. Earlier this year, the company added the Truecaller Voice feature that allowed users to make voice calls through the internet. And now, it has brought the Group Chat service with four unique features on board. It will be interesting to see how many users actually make use of this new service from Trucaller. But the best part is the unique features will attract a lot of users as they are not present on WhatsApp. Truecaller Group Chat is available to both free and Premium users.
