There has been an intense competition going on in the mid-range segment of smartphones and it’s been high time since we saw a new player in this space. A lot of smartphone brands have been competing in the low-range smartphone segment, however, finally, after a long time, we are seeing the launch of the new phone which has been awaited for quite some time now. The smartphone that we are talking about is the Tecno Phantom 9. Tecno has been known to launch some low-range smartphone with its Camon series, but now the company is delving its hands with something bigger with the launch of the Tecno Phantom 9 in India. In its Global Partner Summit event held in India, Tecno has launched this new device and here is all that you need to know.




Design and Display

When it comes to the design, the Tecno Phantom 9 is surely trendy as the phone sports a gradient panel with a curved back which has been said to be of the Lapland aurora colour. On the rear side, we get to see a triple rear camera setup which comes with AI additions. As for the display, the Tecno Phantom 9 sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ resolution AMOLED screen with a teardrop notch. The display renders a resolution of 2340 x 1080. What’s interesting to note is that the Tecno Phantom 9 also supports the in-display fingerprint sensor.

Performance, Software and Battery

When it comes to performance, the Tecno Phantom 9 sports the octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 SoC which is clocked at 2.35 GHz. This processor is combined with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Keeping the lights on, on this device is a 3,500mAh battery. The sensors on the device include G-sensor, Ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and there is GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and OTG for connectivity. On the software front, the device boots Hi OS 5 which is Tecno’s custom OS built on top of Android 9 Pie and it comes with features like AI Beauty feature for WhatsApp Video Calls and 4G Video Call, Smart Panel, AI read mode for protection from blue light and AI battery lab.

Camera

On the camera front, the device sports an AI-assisted 16MP f/1.85 primary sensor paired with an 8MP f/2.4 secondary sensor for 120-degree wide angle shots and another 2MP depth sensor. The triple rear camera setup on the Tecno Phantom 9 is accompanied by a quad-flash and on the front, the phone features a 32MP selfie snapper which comes accompanied by a dual-flash. The camera also supports features like AI Scene Recognition 2.0, AI Beauty, AI HDR mode which is a brand new HDR develop by ArcSoft and Animojis as well.

Pricing and Availability

The Tecno Phantom 9 will also come with triple promise in India, meaning that buyers get 100 days free replacement, 1-time screen replacement, one month extended warranty over the 12-month standard warranty. The price of the device is Rs 14,999 and it will be available on Flipkart starting July 17.
