Tata Sky has competed hard in the DTH industry, which has itself remained competitive in the last few months because of the introduction of the new Trai tariff regime. The DTH operator has also surpassed Dish TV, which was the former market leader to now boast of the largest subscriber market share. This means that Tata Sky has successfully managed to make the customers like its offerings just enough. In the past, it has managed to win the hearts of the customers with the launch of some attractive channel packs, well-priced offers, discounts, cashbacks and much more. However, a part of these offerings has also been the long-term plans, which a lot of subscribers opt for. These long-term plans allow the subscribers of any DTH provider to make some saving over the months as they pay in advance. For Tata Sky subscribers, the DTH operator was providing a handful of long-term plans a while back, but now Tata Sky has stopped providing these plans, and it is only offering channel packs which come can be subscribed for a month.
Tata Sky Stops Offering 6 Months and 12 Months Channel Packs
To recall, the first consumer-centric move from Tata Sky was when it had slashed the prices of its Set-Top Boxes. After the price cut, the Tata Sky Set-Top Boxes were retailing at Rs 1,399 for the SD variant, and the HD Set-Top Box was available for Rs 1,499. However, a few months back, the customers had the choice to select a semi-annual pack or annual pack with these Set-Top Boxes. This means that the subscribers getting their hands on a new Tata Sky connection could select their channel pack for 6 months or 12 months straight which would have allowed them to make savings on these channel selections. But, now Tata Sky has stopped offering these semi-annual and annual channel packs.
Few Channel Packs Still Available
Still, for the subscribers of Malayalam or Marathi channels, there is a choice available of the SD Kerala Super plan and the Marathi SD Basic plan which are both semi-annual channel packs. Previously, the subscribers had the choice of getting more channel packs like the SD Kannada Super, SD Kannada Value, SD Telugu Super, SD Kerala Super, SD Tamil Super, SD Telugu Value under the semi-annual category and also they could get Tamil Super Annual, SD Kannada Super Annual and SD Telugu Super Annual packs along with their SD Set-Top Boxes.
Similarly for HD connections as well, Tata Sky new users could opt for semi-annual or annual channel packs and the choices included HD Telugu Value, HD Telugu Super, HD Kannada Value, HD Kannada Super, HD Tamil Super, HD Hindi Basic. But, again in the case of HD Set-Top Box as well, the consumers are limited to subscribing monthly channel packs which means that they won’t be able to make as much savings as before. Still there is a way to make some savings on their connection with the Tata Sky Cashback offer.
Tata Sky Cashback Offer
Although the new customers of Tata Sky will have very few choices when it comes to semi-annual or annual channel packs to make some savings on their DTH connection, the Tata Sky Cashback offer will work regardless of what channel packs, the subscribers choose. To avail this, the subscribers will have to deposit 12 months worth of DTH subscription amount in their Tata Sky account, and Tata Sky will credit one month worth of subscription amount into the customer’s account. This means that the subscribers will enjoy one month of free service on paying in advance for 12 months.
