Spectra, one of the first Internet Service Provider in the country to offer 1 Gbps broadband plan has made an interesting move recently. Spectra has revised its broadband plans and they now comes with monthly FUP limit. On the whole, Spectra now has just one plan offering 1 Gbps of speeds, and it's priced at Rs 1,549. In Bengaluru and Gurugram cities, Spectra has revised all the three plans of Rs 899, Rs 1,249 and Rs 1,549. The Rs 899 plan now provides a user with 250 Mbps of broadband connection along with 100GB of FUP per month. The Rs 1,249 plan now gives a user 500 Mbps of connection along with 250GB of FUP, and lastly, the Rs 1,549 plan is the only 1 Gbps plan under Spectra's portfolio now. The 1 Gbps plan also comes with 500GB of FUP limit per month.

In the past, Spectra also offered free subscriptions from digital content players. For example, the Spectra Fastest Entertainment Plan of Rs 1,249 earlier offered Google Chromecast, Hungama premium subscription worth Rs 1,080 along with free subscription of ALTBalaji. On the other hand, the Spectra Fastest Premium plan of Rs 1,549 offered free Amazon Fire TV stick, Hungama subscription with unlimited music and movies along with free subscription of ALTBalaji. The revised broadband plans don't offer any such additional benefits.

Also, we learnt from the Spectra customer support team that the revised broadband plans would be applicable only to the new customers looking to join the Spectra network. For existing customers, old benefits will be applicable. We have reached out to Spectra on the reason behind this broadband tariff revision and will update this post once we hear back.

In other cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Delhi, Spectra is offering only 100 Mbps broadband plan priced at Rs 899 and Rs 1,349. The Rs 899 broadband plan comes with 100GB of FUP per month, whereas the Rs 1,349 plan offers unlimited data without any FUP limit at 100 Mbps speeds.

With a massive threat looming in the form of Reliance Jio GigaFiber, this move from Spectra will surprise many, but as stated, Spectra is yet to reveal the reason behind this revision.
