Reliance Jio is all set for hiring a team of professionals who specialise in Artificial Intelligence. The team will work in building high-tech technologies like AI, ML under Akash Ambani’s leadership. The report came from Livemint, which quoted “Reliance Jio has hired a few senior people who will build this team...the company wants to set up this team in either Bengaluru or Hyderabad.... Akash Ambani is taking keen interest in this and is expected to lead this initiative.”
The recruitment process has been initiated in Bengaluru, but a final location has not yet been decided upon. Reliance Jio is seeking a chance to capitalise on the high-tech technologies like AI, Machine Learning and even Blockchain.
This is not the first time that the telco is dipping its feet in new technology like AI, in May also, Reliance Jio had launched an artificial intelligence (AI) based brand engagement platform with the name of ‘JioInteract’. The platform offers video call centres, video catalogue, and virtual showrooms. Here users could ask questions and then obtain appropriate answers.
To develop new use-cases and application, the company has already brought together an engineering team which will work on Blockchain technology.
This step comes as no surprise from Reliance Jio, as the company has always stood at the forefront of technology under Mukesh Ambani’s leadership. In a similar move, Airtel has also recently appointed former NASA executive Santanu Bhattacharya as Chief Data Scientist to hasten its action upon similar technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. As told by the same report, Airtel has strategically chosen Bengaluru as its centre of innovation to make the best use of the young and talented pool of engineers.
