Reliance Jio Reported Positive Adjusted Gross Revenue of Rs 4,270 Crore in July-September Quarter: Analysts

Mukesh Ambani-led 4G telco Reliance Jio reported a positive adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of Rs 4,270 crore for the first time in the quarter ended September 30, 2017, ICICI Securities said in a note. Jio’s performance had also driven the entire industry’s AGR by 8.6% quarter over quarter after three successive quarters of declines to Rs 30,800 crore, the agency said.

ICICI Securities said that the growth in the AGR was driven by Jio recognising its revenues in the September quarter. The telco, however, got benefitted by recognising its entire `Summer Surprise’ promotional offer revenues during the period, it added.

Reliance Jio, in the quarter, had reported a net loss of Rs 270.59 crore and had posted revenue of Rs 6,147 crore and EBITDA of Rs 1,443 crore. Its EBITDA margin of 23.5% during the quarter. The telco, which started services last September with free promotional voice and data offers, said that consolidated value of services stood at Rs 7,213 crore, while consolidated EBIT stood at Rs 261 crore.

Jio had then reported an average revenue per user (ARPU) of Rs 156.4 in the September quarter, which was higher than the Rs 154 reported by market leader Bharti Airtel in the April-June period.

As compared to Jio’s AGR, India’s leading telco Bharti Airtel’s AGR dropped 10.5% sequentially to Rs 8,600 crore, while Vodafone and Idea Cellular’s AGR plunged 11.1% and 13.8% sequentially to Rs 6,300 crore and Rs 5,300 crore, respectively, the agency said.

Another agency BNP Paribas, separately, said that the growing adoption of bundled plans is now leading to increased interconnection usage charges (IUC) for incumbent telecom operators, which in turn, is causing significant pressure on their AGR, especially in the weaker circles.

BNP also said that Airtel’s revenue market share RMS in the September quarter declined 3% sequentially to 31.2%, while Vodafone and Idea’s RMS declined by 2.8% and 2.7% sequentially to 21.3% and 16.2%, respectively. Jio, on the other hand, reported a 14.5% RMS in the fiscal second quarter.

An ET report said that Deutsche Bank now expects subscriber and revenue share metrics to remain volatile during FY18 on account of rapid shifts in pricing from Jio, significant changes in voice traffic patterns due to unlimited voice plan bundles, and cut in IUC charges.

Airtel Delhi: in 3G mode, only H+ is usable , H & simple 3G mode are f dead.

What the hell is going on.

Why it is very hard for telecom companies to provide good coverage even in metro cities.
Atleast Delhi, Mumbai ,Chennai, blore hyd ,etc should have good coverage.

Situation is pathetic right now.

It has been like this for a long time. Internet only works in H+. I think they have configured the other bands for voice calling. That way data is faster as well.

Jio tower is just 60 mtr near my home with microwave back end, Jio earlier speed is in band 40 = 20-25 Mbps, band 3= 2-3 Mbps and band 5 = 3-4 Mbps,

Suddenly it has changed since 2 days, speed in band 40= 7-10 Mbps, band3= 2-3 Mbps and band 5= 25-32 mbps

Why band 40 speed down and band 5 is accelerate, 30 Mbps on band 5 is not possible on microwave back haul, band 3 is almost dead in gujarat.

Is the round microwave backhaul dish still installed? Most of the times they remove it once the tower gets OFC backhaul. Easier to spot on monopoles as there’s just one dish installed. Band 5 was garbage here but lately it has improved and speeds have doubled.

@kirit, How did you find out that tower is connected to fibre or Microwave link..????? Were you involved in the tower installation process???? Do you know what equipment goes in to Tower installation???? Well, the reason you are getting 30 Mbps on Band 5 is because of CA with band 40 or Band 3 which signal is best at your place… Jio has increased TX power of Band 5(beam forming) to insure that you always see full signal on your device(Because might be your neighbour might have complaint of week or low quality signal) and when you do surfing then… Read more »

1st thing is my Redmi Note 4 not supported CA,

2nd thing is Microwave radio antenna is installed on tower from the date of commissioning, there is no change, if Jio would have changed back haul from Microwave to Fiber, than Band 40 speed also improved but there is decrease speed of band40.

Could be due to CA. Also band 40 which the tower will be using would be of 10mhz which jio bought recently.

TT was there before the birth of Jio.
And it’s like media, it’s not dependent on the hot topic. Everyday new technology introducing. Jio is not the last operator in india. There are scopes for dousons of MVNO. Globally players AT&T, T mobile, NTT, China mobile, singtel etc will surely look at worlds other developing markets like India for expansion. D2h will die with Internet tv growth, 5G, internet of things, etc.. I see no end to this in near future.
