Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition Arriving on September 19 With Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC

Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition in China tomorrow (September 19). Redmi CEO Lu Weibing has made this announcement on Weibo and he also confirmed that the upcoming model would ship with the newer Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. To recall, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro smartphones were launched in China back in July this year and they received a good response from the audience. However, with the Snapdragon 855 Plus now out, Xiaomi wants it to use on the Redmi K20 Pro and name it as Exclusive Edition. Maybe the Chinese company will sell this model in only a limited number and it could be exclusive to China only for now. Xiaomi did not announce the India launch Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition.

Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition: What to Expect?

Besides the name and chipset, we don’t have any information related to the Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition. We’re expecting the phone to be identical to the original Redmi K20 Pro that was launched earlier this year with the processor being upgraded to the latest one. Xiaomi may launch a 12GB RAM version of the Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition to take on the affordable gaming phones out there in China like Asus ROG Phone 2 and BlackShark 2 Pro.

To recall, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset a few weeks with minor improvements to clock speed and GPU. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855 Plus will offer 4.2% better CPU performance and the GPU clock speed has been pushed by 15%. That said, both the chipsets feature the same Adreno 640 GPU inside, but their clock speeds differ.

Redmi K20 Series Doing Well in the Indian Market

When the Redmi K20 series reached India, several fans were disappointed with the pricing of the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro. Even after three months of launch, the Redmi K20 Pro is still the cheapest phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset in the country and it will remain the same going forward as well. The Redmi K20, in particular, received all the backlash because of the pricing as consumers expected the phone to retail for less than Rs 20,000. However, that did not happen and the phone was made available for over Rs 20,000.
