Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 Achieves Better Scores Than Snapdragon 636 on Geekbench

Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 Mobile Platform is the latest mid-range SoC from the chipmaker and it's yet to appear on a smartphone. Benchmark scores of Snapdragon 632 SoC did not appear on the web until now, however, that has changed as a new Geekbench benchmark report revealed the single-core and multi-core scores of the Snapdragon 632. The chipset achieved a single-core score of 1377 and a multi-core score of 5247. Notably, these scores are better than the Snapdragon 636 SoC. None of the devices with Snapdragon 636 SoC achieved a multi-core score of over 5000 on Geekbench, but that seems to be a possible case with the Snapdragon 632. However, do make a note that the SoC is benchmarked with 6GB of RAM.

These scores are way better than the Snapdragon 630 chipset, which did not receive much traction from the manufacturers. Also, the SD632 scores are between the Snapdragon 660 SoC and the Snapdragon 636 SoC. We had a lot of smartphones with Snapdragon 625 chipset, but the same did not happen with the Snapdragon 630 SoC because it's a minor upgrade over the former.

Just when the Snapdragon 636 SoC seems to be a true successor to the power efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset, these scores of SD632 will surely worry the manufacturers.

To give a glimpse about the Snapdragon 632 chipset, it's said to be the successor of Snapdragon 626 SoC with a promise of 40% boost in performance. This chipset is built on the 14nm manufacturing process with a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz. Qualcomm has added Snapdragon X9 LTE modem to the SD632 SoC which is capable of delivering 300 Mbps downlink speeds and 150 Mbps uplink speeds. Sadly, the SD632 has the same Adreno 506 GPU, so the graphics performance of this chipset will relatively stay similar to the Snapdragon 625, 626 and 630 SoCs.

The chipset is capable of recording 4K UltraHD videos at 30fps. In addition to dual 4G, the SoC has support for Bluetooth 5.0 and comes with 6 satellite systems: GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS, SBAS.
